Robot bubbles

Robot BubblesMy friend Mo came over the other day with her two kids for a playdate in the garden and she brought the kids some of these robot bubbles for a bit of extra entertainment.  I think it was purely the looks that attracted her (because they’re very cute, aren’t they?), but it turns out these bubbles are actually quite ingenious.

You have to press the ears of the robot to make the little wand pop up.  Pressing the sides of the robot also makes a bit of bubble liquid rise to the top cavity.  So if you spill the bubbles (which happens quite often in our family and always ends in big tears!), only some of the bubble liquid spills, but the rest remains in the bottom half.  Non-spill bubbles — isn’t that clever?

They make a cute little party favor, or just a special treat for a sunny day!

We had these growing up! Not the cool robots, but a bear shape – same thing though, you squeeze the ears and just get a little bit of bubble soap, so not nearly as many tears if it happens to spill….
